Our three guidelines

Industrial Systems Engineering Department (Associate Degree)

Graduation policy

Our college grants graduation to students having the skills below and that have obtained the necessary number of credits:

  • GP1. To cultivate genuine humanity
    Understanding the importance of sciences and technology on the global environment and human society, having a rich education and a wide vision.
  • GP2. To comprehend mathematics, natural sciences and information processing
    To possess fundamental mathematics and natural sciences knowledge, as well as applied mathematics, applied physics and information processing skills, and the ability to apply it to problem solving.
  • GP3. To comprehend specialized knowledge
    To possess knowledge and skills in one's major field, as well as fundamental knowledge of other fields and the ability to apply it to problem solving.
  • GP4. Problem finding skills, curiosity and cooperativeness
    To be inquisitive and be able to find problems by oneself, to work on a task while displaying cooperativeness as a team member.
  • GP5. To contribute to local society
    To show an interest in local issues and a willingness to contribute to their solving.
  • GP6. Intercultural understanding and communication skills
    To demonstrate intercultural understanding, to possess discussion and presentation skills, as well as fundamental English abilities and to use these in one's research and presentations.

Curriculum Policy

In order to foster human resources fulfilling our graduation policy, the curriculum was designed to engender knowledge and skills through experiences making the most of the characteristics of a wedge-shape education, dispensing specialized subjects gradually from lower grades, working together with general subject educations. Learning results are assessed through evaluation methods, such as written exam or reports, stated on the syllabus of each subject. Curriculum policy is as stated below:

  • CP1. To cultivate the necessary education and wide vision of engineers, subjects such as Japanese language, mathematics, English, sciences, social studies, physical education, arts, etc... are to be provided, especially in lower grades.
  • CP2. To learn mathematics and natural sciences that are the fundamentals of specialized subjects, applied mathematics, applied physics and information processing classes are to be provided.
  • CP3. To acquire knowledge and skills of one's expertise field, the curriculum is to be composed by coordinating fundamentals and applied subjects' lectures with experiments and practical learning hands-on classes. In addition, creative subjects and graduation research periods are set up in higher grades in order to foster ability to use the previous skills in problems solving.
  • CP4. Implementation of Self-Directed Research from first grade to fifth grade to develop problem finding ability and its solving in an autonomous and inquiring manner. Also, implantation of cooperation based-contents in every variety of experiments, practical learning, creative subjects and graduation research in order to foster cooperativeness when taking a task.
  • CP5. Implementation of region adapted subjects to deepen interest in local issues. Also, supporting local issues related Self-Directed Research.
  • CP6. Along with setting up communication and English communication subjects aiming at acquiring discussion and presentation skills, as well as intercultural understanding, the curriculum will provide occasions such as short overseas programs. Also, providing support to practice these skills by having all grades do a poster presentation of their Self-Directed Research, or giving graduation presentations in English.

Admission Policy

1. Ideal student profile

  • First grade entrance
    • AP1. Students who are considerate of others and act responsibly.
    • AP2. Students who are highly motivated to gain fundamental knowledge in mathematics, science and English.
    • AP3. Students who have an interest in "monozukuri" (the making of things), science and technology, and who have a strong intellectual curiosity.
    • AP4. Students who have dreams of contributing to the welfare of society through the use of technology and the ability to collaborate with others.
    • AP5. Students who actively pursue dialogue with all kinds of people and can express their opinions and thoughts.
  • Fourth grade Transfer
    • AP1. Students who are considerate of others and act responsibly and with sincerity.
    • AP2. Students who are highly motivated to actively gain fundamental engineering knowledge in high school.
    • AP3. Students who have an interest in "monozukuri" (the making of things), science and technology, and who have a strong intellectual curiosity.
    • AP4. Students who are enthusiastic about contributing to the welfare of society by using technology and the ability to collaborate with others.
    • AP5. Students who actively pursue dialogue with all kinds of people and can express their opinions and thoughts.

2.Basic principles of student admission

A. First grade Admissions

Selection is based on the three following principles. Emphasis is placed on grades in subjects such as mathematics, sciences and English, which are deemed most important by our college.

(1) Admission based on recommendation

Applicants are chosen based on letter of recommendation, school report and interview, including outstanding applicants recommended by their junior high school principal, with basic academic knowledge and a strong will to enter our college.

(2) Admission based on entrance examination

Applicants are chosen based on entrance examination (mathematics, sciences, English, Japanese, and social studies) and school report.

(3) Special admission for students with prior overseas education

Applicants with prior overseas education who have the necessary basic academic knowledge to study at our college are selected based on entrance examination (mathematics, sciences, English), essay, interview examination, and/or school report.

B. Fourth grade Transfer Admission

Applicants are chosen based on those who possess the necessary fundamental knowledge for the course to which they wish to transfer, interview, oral examination (mathematics, English, major subject) and school report.

Industrial Systems Engineering Advanced Department (Advanced Course)

Graduation Policy

Our college grants graduation to students on the Advanced Course that have obtained the necessary number of credits and also demonstrate the following:

  • GP1. An understanding of the importance of science and technology on the global environment
    To possess an interdisciplinary vision based on a rich education and an understanding of the importance of science and technology on the global environment and human society.
  • GP2. Contribution to the development of industry
    To possess fundamental knowledge of subjects such as mathematics, physics and chemistry, have a strong ethical sense as an engineer, and the ability to contribute widely to the development of industry.
  • GP3. Knowledge, skills and expertise and other fields, and the ability to apply it
    To possess knowledge and skills in one's major field, as well as a fundamental knowledge of other fields, and the ability to apply this to problem solving.
  • GP4. Interest in local issues and problem solving abilities
    To have an interest in local issues and the ability to identify and solve problems by oneself.
  • GP5. Intercultural understanding, discussion and presentation skills, basic English abilities
    To demonstrate an understanding of international academic research and an awareness of other cultures, to have discussion and presentation skills, and to have fundamental English abilities for use in giving presentations etc. in one's research field.

Curriculum Policy

The curriculum was designed and developed to systematically inculcate high level knowledge and skills in the three following categories: general subjects, Advanced Course common subjects, and major subjects. Learning outcomes are assessed and evaluated on the basis of written exams and/or assignments etc. as outlined on the syllabus of each course. The curriculum policy is as follows:

  • CP1. To cultivate an interdisciplinary vision and a fundamental engineering education, subjects such as computer engineering, environmental energy engineering and introduction to Japanese cultural history are provided.
  • CP2. To deepen cross-disciplinary knowledge and foster engineering ethics, applied mathematics, physics theory, chemistry theory and engineering ethics classes are provided.
  • CP3. To deepen knowledge and skills of one's major field, the curriculum is to be composed of lectures on applied subjects and practical classes such as experiments. In addition, the ability to identify and solve problems is fostered through personal research.
  • CP4. Subjects such as out of class activities or engineering design aim to deepen interest in local issues and students are encouraged to take these subjects.
  • CP5. In addition to Comprehensive English classes, which strengthen international discussion and presentation skills and develop intercultural understanding, the curriculum will provide opportunities for international exchange for up to six months. Further support is to be provided to develop these skills by having students give their personal research presentations in English.

Admission Policy

  • AP2. Students who aim at a multi-angled vision by learning fundamental knowledge without limiting themselves to their own field.
  • AP3. Students who have an interest in "monozukuri" (the making of things), and want to gain creative skills and the ability to develop new ideas.
  • AP4. Students who are interested in local issues and are motivated to work with others to solve problems.
  • AP5. Students who are enthusiastic about learning basic language skills in order to participate in a global society, are able to understand various points of view, and are able to express their own opinions.

2.Basic principles in student admission

Selection is based on the three following principles:

(1) Admission based on recommendation

Admission for applicants for our Regular Course is decided through a general jury based on each course requirements. Admission for applicants for courses other than for the Regular Course is determined by letter of recommendation, school report, personal statement, and interview.

(2) Admission based on entrance examination

Admissions are based on entrance examination, school report, personal statement, TOEIC score, and interview.

(3) Special admission for working adults

Admissions are based on school report, personal statement, and interview.
